Guilford County, NC -- In mid-July, electricians working on McNair Elementary started calling News 2 to tell us the school would not be done on time.

July 30th was the original move-in date for teachers and staff.

On August 17th, Guilford County Schools announced that the school would not be open for the first day of classes.

So when all the other schools opened on August 27th, some 500 students who were expecting to attend McNair Elementary were bused to Brightwood elementary or Jesse Wharton elementary.

On August 31, Farley Associates told GCS they would have the school finished by Halloween, October 31.

About a week later, on September 6, News 2 checked on the progress of the school. Here's what Robert Melton, with GCS Facilities and Construction Management, had to say, "The project is well over 90 percent complete. We have some things we need to complete. Parts of it can be done very quickly."

And, then on September 11, Guilford County fired the builder, Farley Associates, and now there is no timeline for completion.
