WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. -- An Illinois police chief says a Missouri teen who was held captive in a house for more than three years went there voluntarily but was not allowed to leave when she wanted to go home.
Washington Park Police Chief David Clark said Friday that the 19-year-old woman bolted from the home on Monday. Police arrested the man she accused of holding her captive and his mother Thursday in a raid on the house. They also rescued the teen's 2-year-old son.
No charges had been filed as of Friday.
Police in St. Louis listed the teen as a missing or runaway juvenile in April 2009.
The teenager told police her captor routinely beat and sexually assaulted her, resulting in her son.
Clark says the teenager met her alleged captor socially.
