Denton, NC - The Andy Griffith Show inspired a good many people to enter law enforcement.

One local Sheriff's Deputy not only joined law enforcement because of Andy. He purchase a Mayberry police vehicle.

"Well, I've been a Mayberry fan all my life," said Jeff Branch.

Jeff Branch of Montgomery County is the owner of a restored 1964 Ford Galaxie 500. He displayed the restored replica at Southeast Old Threshers' Reunion in Denton on Monday.

"It makes me feel real proud to have something I grew up watching. And I would have never dreamed I would have had one," said Branch

The Galaxie 500 is a replica of the same police vehicle that was driven in the Andy Griffith Show.

"I'm a law enforcement officer and I think Mayberry made me go in that direction," said Branch.

"It just means a lot to me to have this car and be able to share the enjoyment with others. It's not just for me...It's for all Mayberry fans," said Branch.

"Mayberry has a void in its heart right now but we know heaven's got Mayberry up there in the clouds," said Branch.

Deputy Branch's car will be on display until July 4th at Southeast Old Treshers' Reunion in Denton.
