Mount Airy, NC -- Betty Lynn, known to many as Thelma Lou on the Andy Griffith Show, shared a few stories with WFMY News 2 about her former co-worker, George "Goober" Lindsey.

Lynn's first episode with Lindsey was a memorable one for the actress.  They danced together due to the jealousy of the 'fun girls' that came into town.  "George was wonderful to work with, he really was," said Lynn.

Lindsey died early Sunday morning on May 6th, after a brief illness. He spent five years as the beanie-wearing character named "Goober" on the Andy Griffith Show from 1964-1968.

Unfortunately, Lynn has experienced several deaths of her co-workers from the show.  "It hurts a lot when you see them go, but I'm glad I can see them on TV to be honest. They make me laugh and it makes me happy to watch them," explained Lynn.

WFMY News 2 will be airing episodes that include George Lindsey, all week at 5:30 pm from May 7 to May 11.
