Climax, NC-- Investigators in Randolph County have arrested and charged a woman with murder after deputies said she shot and killed her husband during an argument.
Friday deputies were called to a house on Old Red Cross Road in Climax. Investigators found Larry Craig Cox, 67, dead from a gunshot wound in an outbuilding on the property.
Although the crime wasn't reported until Friday, Detectives said their investigation reveals it happened Thursday. They believe Cox was killed during a verbal argument with his wife Margaret Cox. Detectives said after Mrs. Cox killed her husband, his body was placed inside an outbuilding on the property.
Margaret Cox, 56, was placed in the Randolph County Jail and charged with murder. She is being held without bond.
Mr. Cox's body is being held for autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill.
Investigators did not reveal how they learned of the shooting. Randolph Co. 911 said they received a call about a shooting around 2:59pm, on Friday. The call was to a home on Old Red Cross Rd.
The investigation is on-going.
