Guilford County, NC -- A woman is recovering from a random gunshot that may have been from New Year's Eve shooting.
Detective Sluder with the Guilford County Sheriff's Office said they received a call around 2:33am New Year's Day from doctors at Cone MedCenter about a gunshot patient.
Doctors told them a woman came in with a gunshot and they had removed a bullet fragment from her head.
The victim, Victoria Osborne, told detectives she was driving along NC Highway 158 in the northwest part of the county when her window shattered and she felt pain.
Osborne said she drove herself to the hospital.
Detective Sluder said the believe the shooting happened around 12:20am, but doctors notified them around 2:33am. He said the shooting appears to be from celebratory gunfire on New Year's Eve/day.
The shooting is still under investigation. Sluder said if they are able to track down the shooter they could possibly be charged.
