2 Killed, 1 Injured In Wreck After Car Speeds From Checkpoint

Rockingham County, NC -- Highway Patrol investigated a wreck that killed 2 people and left 1 injured, late Friday night near Reidsville.

The crash happened while the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and the NC Highway Patrol were conducting a license check on US 158 West near Woodlyn Drive in Reidsville. 

Trooper Hamilton said a vehicle approached the check point, then turned around attempting to avoid being pulled over. 

The vehicle, a 1993 Ford Mustang, was travelling at such a high speed that deputies could not attempt to stop it.

According to the Highway Patrol, the vehicle crossed the center line, hit a driveway culvert, 2 trees, overturned and caught fire. The car landed in the front yard of a house at 13444 U.S. 158 West.

The driver, Jesse Donnell Harrison,41, and backseat passenger April Lourdes Visaya, 24, both of Reidsville, died at the scene.

Kimberly Valadez, 22, the front passenger, was airlifted to Baptist Hospital for treatment. She is listed in critical condition.

No other vehicle was involved.
