Honolulu, HI -- A former U.S. service member arrested in Honolulu for allegedly sending emails from Thailand threatening to kill Vice President Joe Biden has pleaded not guilty.

Justin Alan Woodward appeared in federal court in Honolulu Friday for his arraignment. He remains held without bail.

Secret Service agents arrested Woodward earlier this month at the Honolulu airport when he arrived on a flight from Bangkok.

According to the criminal complaint, he admitted to agents that he wrote the threatening messages. He told officials he was medically discharged from the U.S Marine Corps for bipolar disorder.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Brady says the trial is expected to begin in November.
