Carthage, NC -- It's taken a month of testimony, but closing arguments are expected Thursday in the Carthage nursing home murders case.
Prosecutors say Robert Stewart shot 11 people at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage in 2009, killing eight of them.
For the last two weeks, witnesses for the prosecution told a jury about how Stewart was on a rampage looking for his estranged wife, who worked at the nursing home.
Stewart's lawyers claim he was so disoriented by depression and a mixture of prescription medication that he isn't legally responsible for his actions.
Jurors are set to begin deliberations Friday. If convicted, Stewart could face the death penalty.
