  • Greensboro, NC -- What do you get when 23 cheerleading squads all gather in one place?  One heck of a loud evening at the 2011 Cheerleading Jamboree.

The line outside NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro was a site Thursday night.  Admission was $5, and all the money goes right back to our schools.

And, when it comes to a heated competition, this was it in more ways than one.

"You never know. It's split second timing, they're hot, they're sweating, you just don't know. You want to do your best, but there's a lot of competition, so you take what you can get," said Debbie Pope, Ledford High School.

And guess what? Debbie Pope and the Ledford Squad tore it up again this year repeating as champions.

Organizers raised enough to meet their $120,000 goal for Triad area schools. The jamboree had a record crowd this year at: 2,958.

    Top winners list:

1st place - Ledford High School out of Davidson County. They were the defending champions.

2nd place - Ragsdale High School out of Jamestown

3rd place - Northwest Guilford High School, Greensboro, NC.

Spirit Award winner  - Reidsville High School. This is the third year in a row, Reidsville has won the Spirit Award.
*The award has only been in place for three years.

Congratulations to the top winners and all the schools that compete for a great effort and meeting your fundraising goal.

Mark your Calendars, Friday August 12 is the Football Scrimmage Jamboree.
