Lauren Melvin joined WFMY as a general assignment reporter in June of 2011.  In April of 2013, Lauren joined the Good Morning Show as an anchor.

Before heading south to the Triad, Lauren was the morning anchor and a general assignment reporter at WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Among her most memorable stories there is her extensive coverage of the fundraising efforts and construction of the Flight 93 National Memorial.

Lauren fell in love with broadcasting and the fast pace of the newsroom in college, when she interned at CBS News in the Washington Bureau, Cox Broadcasting in the Washington Bureau and at a local TV station. Her interest in politics also led her to work in the White House and on Capitol Hill.

Lauren is a 2007 graduate of The George Washington University, where she graduated Cum Laude from the School of Media and Public Affairs. She also studied European television and media and politics in Barcelona, Spain.

As a Pennsylvania native, Lauren is anxious to enjoy North Carolina's warmer weather. She's a runner, so you'll likely catch her exploring the Greensboro area on foot. And as a self-proclaimed foodie, Lauren is excited to get a real taste of the Triad...and sample all the Carolina cuisine!

In her free time, Lauren enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. And she always wants to know what you're talking about!

Where is your favorite place to visit?

Hands down -- my family's lakehouse in Pennsylvania (also known as "the cabin"). It's where I've spent every summer water skiing and tubing since I was little! We have so many wonderful memories there.

What is your favorite book?

Two of my most recent reads: Hunger Games and The Help.

If you weren't on television news, what would you do for a living?

If I was not on television, I would LOVE to be a chef. I love to cook and I'm addicted to the Food Network.

Name one of your role models.

My Mom. She's such a driven woman. It's been amazing to grow up with an incredible role model who is not only passionate about her career, but shows tremendous devotion to her family.

Describe your most embarrassing moment.

No thanks. Then I would have to relive it!
