Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in our country. All this week we are promoting healthier living with tips from doctors, nurses, and nutritionists. We are also sharing stories of survival from folks who are just like you.

Todd and Kim Rangel shared their story with us. Kim is like most women. She was juggling a million things at once, taking care of everyone before herself, and because of that she suffered from a heart attack and didn't even know it. Not only did she have one heart attack, but within a span of a weekend had two heart attacks.  After this happened, Kim changed her lifestyle drastically to help alleviate some of the stress in her life. Today, she is happy and healthy. 

The Rangels turned this life-changing experience into a positive one by becoming ambassadors for heart healthy living. They've been involved in the Guilford Heart Ball for the past five years and share their story to inspire change in others.

Mandy Jeffries told us it is never too early to change unhealthy habits. She decided to do a lifestyle overhaul when heart disease impacted her mother. She stopped drinking, changed her eating habits, lost more than 50 pounds, and started working out. She wants people to know that it is never too early to change your life and stop heart disease from ever affecting you.

Kate Murr was the picture of health - she worked out regularly, had low cholesterol and low blood pressure. So it came as a shock when she suddenly had a heart attack. She had no warning symptoms and only felt sluggish and fatigue. She wants other women to learn from her story and listen to their bodies. Women often ignore warning signs because they're consumed with taking care of everyone else.  Kate is now living a heart-healthy life and one of the "Faces Of Heart" for the Guilford Heart Ball this Saturday.
