Kuwait-- You don't have to be in Greensboro or America to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
And some female soldiers thousands of miles from home are proving it. Women in the Greensboro-based NC Army National Guard Unit The 113 th Sustainment Brigade are stationed in Kuwait and that's not stopping them from running for a cause. They are holding a "Shadow" Women's Only 5K Walk & Run this evening in Kuwait.
MAJ Kimberly Graham and LTC Miriam Gray (see picture) are holding a poster in support of a soldier they are running to honor.
Their "Women's Only" starts Friday evening in Kuwait. They are doing this as way to stay connected to events back home and to show their support in the effort to make sure women get mammograms-the best way to detect breast cancer.
Women in Greensboro can still participate in the Women's Only 5K Walk & Run tomorrow morning. More than 3,500 women are expected to take part in this fund raiser for the Mammography Scholarship Fund at Women's Hospital.
The fund provides screening mammograms to women who might not otherwise be able to afford one. Women can register at Women's Hospital between 4 and 7 today and before the race tomorrow morning.
People can follow the event conversation on twitter at #WO5K.
Photos from the Kuwait shadow race will be shared on the Women's Only 5K Facebook page once they are available. http://www.facebook.com/womensonly5k
