Greensboro, N.C. -- A box of cereal, peanut butter, a can of beans; they're food items a lot of us have in our pantries. But there are many in our community who are not as fortunate.
That's where you come in. The Boy Scouts is teaming up with WFMY News 2's Food 2 Families for the Scouting for Food program to help feed hungry families.
Boy Scouts from Boone to Burlington will hand out special door hangers about Scouting for Food on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
If you get one, please take a bag from home and fill it with nonperishable food. On Saturday, February 8, 2014, the Scouts will return to pick up the bags of food donations. Just leave your donation on the front porch by 9 a.m.
Last year's Scouting for Food brought in 192,494 pounds of food for nonprofit organizations across the Piedmont.
The food is used by nonprofit groups to help people who cannot afford to buy food.
