GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You can help share the joy of Christmas by giving to others in need. Bender's Tavern is hosting its 4th consecutive meal for the needy on Christmas Day, but they're also collecting items to hand out with every meal.
Anna Freiberg with Bender's Tavern joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the donation drive.
"We're collecting donations of toiletries and winter clothing, hats, gloves, scarfs and coats to be given to those who come to enjoy a free meal on Christmas Day," explained Freiberg.
Staff and volunteers will serve the free meal to anyone in need of a hot meal on Christmas Day. Delivery for the homebound is also available with advance notice. If transportation is needed, shuttles run every 15 minutes with pickup and drop off at the Greensboro Urban Ministries and the Interactive Resource Center.
You can drop off donations at the restaurant located at 4517 West Market Street in Greensboro. And if you'd like to volunteer and learn more about giving opportunities, call 336-698-6882. Delivery requests are best made in advance but will be taken up to 10 a.m. on Christmas morning.
