GREENSBORO, N.C. -- For the past 6 years, the Dudley High School Band and Boosters come together and give back during the holidays and this year is no different.

Band Director Ricardo Reid and Dudley High School senior Stevie Thompson joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain to talk about their annual giving campaign.

Every year beginning in late October the boosters and band students begin collecting non-perishable food items so that Thanksgiving baskets can be delivered to single parent homes with children.

"We chose single mothers in Ray Warren homes because a lot of Dudley students reside in this community and we wanted to help them out," explained Reid.

"We chose single mothers in Ray Warren homes because a lot of Dudley students reside in this community and we wanted to help them out," explained Reid.

Immediately after Thanksgiving, the school's community service continues.  "We also adopt single parent homes with children for Christmas," said Reid.

The students wrap gifts and toys delivered right before the band students leave for winter break.

The students will deliver the Thanksgiving boxes on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 but now they need help collecting gifts for  Christmas.

You can drop these items off at the school when classes resume after Thanksgiving break on Monday, December 2, 2013.
