GREENSBORO, NC -- It goes without saying, members of our military are brave, heroic, and strong.  They put themselves in harm's way fighting for our freedom, and standing right beside them are military canines.

Military canines help keep bases safe, sniff out bombs, and are trained to protect.

That's why the Southwoods Animal Hospital in Greensboro is teaming up with the USO to collect care packages for dogs serving overseas.

Dr. Joe Packeheiser joined the Good Morning Show crew on Monday to talk about the project.

Southwoods Animal Hospital is contributing toys, treats, and flea and tick preventatives to the care packages.  They are also preparing to pay shipping charges.

But they also have a wish list for their military canine care packages.  They're asking for folks to donate K-9 toys and treats, K-9 tooth brushes and toothpaste, and grooming tools.  They're also accepting financial donations to help cover the costs of shipping.
