WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- You can get handmade home goods, jewelry, furniture, decorative items and more at the 50th Anniversary Crafts Fair in Winston-Salem, Nov. 16 &  Nov. 17, 2013.

Carver Jim Carpenter joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the annual event.

Carpenter carves life-like sculptures that show birds in their natural habitat.  He uses tupelo gum wood, metal and other woods to create the various works of art.  "A small one takes 16 hours to make," Carpenter explained.

Carpenter has been making his crafts for 25 years and like many local artists, he relies on the show every year to sell his artwork.

You can support Carpenter and more than 100 vendors this weekend at the 50th Annual Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th and from Noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday November 17th.

It's at the Benton Convention Center located at 301 West Fifth Street in Winston Salem.  It costs $7 for adults.  Students and seniors (age 65 and older) get in for $6.  Children get in free.
