GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A dozen local restaurants partnered up Thursday to help out a group that's helped so many.

Smith Street Diner and several other groups hosted a "dine and donate" event to raise money and blood for the Greensboro Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The other restaurants partnering with Smith Street included Southern Lights Bistro, Cafe Europa, Fishers Grille, Fishbones, Gia, MJ's Steak and Seafood, Natty Greene's, Reel Seafood Grill, Sticks & Stones and the Corner Slice.

The restaurants each agreed to donate 10 percent of their sales Thursday to the American Red Cross. And, along with its donation, Smith Street had a Red Cross mobile unit outside the restaurant for people to give blood.

Robert Johnston, of Smith Street, and John Drees, of Southern Lights, stopped by the Good Morning Show Thursday to talk to WFMY News 2's Patrick Wright about the event.
