GREENSBORO - All we seem to hear about are the possibilities in STEM careers. That's science, technology, engineering and math. So why not give students a jump start with an after school program that focuses on it.
St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Greensboro offers an after school STEM Tutorial program Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Program Coordinator Shirley Foster and student Brizheet Andrews joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the program.
"We want to make sure our children are ready for the 21st century and have the tools they need to succeed," said Foster.
Andrews described why the program is so beneficial. "I wasn't my best at math, but this program has helped me," the fourth grade Peeler Elementary student explained.
The after school program is for students in grades K through 6. It costs $40 per week. GCDSS Child Care Vouchers are accepted. Contact Shirley Foster at 336-272-4505 for more information.
