GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The owner of a gourmet popcorn shop in Greensboro hopes you "pop" by his new store. Justin Wills opened Gatlyn's Gourmet Popcorn at the Friendly Center earlier this month.
The store offers about 50 flavors including cheddar, dill pickle, salt and vinegar, cinnamon toast, orange, and strawberry. Wills hopes to offer 100 flavors in the future.
Each batch of popcorn is made by hand. The recipes are top secret. Even the mistakes turn out to be a success.
"We tried to come up with flavors like pink lemonade and it came out totally different, granted it tasted pretty good. It turned out to be Freaky Fruity," explained Wills.
Wills' two-year-old daughter, Gatlyn, is the inspiration behind the popcorn. Her picture is featured on each bag. You'll often find her at the shop that bears her name.
Students can also sell Gatlyn's Gourmet Popcorn as a fundraiser. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to the participating student's school.
