Greensboro, NC -- This weekend, flag football teams from all over the country will be in the Triad for the 2nd Annual Monster Energy Classic.
The biggest flag football event in the eastern USA is Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14th at Jaycee Park in Greensboro.
Triad Flag Football League owners, Corey and Keegan Rush, joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the all adult league.
"We have over 35 teams. We cater to men's flag and women's flag and we do co-ed flag," explained Keegan. "We have a lot of former players who played collegiality, they played in the NFL and we have guys who have never played a day of college football in their lives. But they come together and we have some truly competitive teams out there."
Flag football has a big following around the country. The draw, Corey rush says, is that it welcomes people of all skill levels.
"If you want to be healthy and active, if you want to live that lifestyle, it's a big help," he said. "We've all got dreams. We help you key in on those dreams. We do fun things, it's different. It's something where the whole family can come out and say mom and dad and brother and sister still got it."
The events run from 8 am to 8 pm July 13th and 14th at Jaycee Park in Greensboro. They'll crown a champion at 2 pm Sunday, July 14th.
