WFMY -- It was Memorial Day weekend, when tragedy struck on High Rock Lake in Davidson County.

Melissa Chambers Britt, her 3-year-old son and unborn child were all killed when a speed boat ran into the pontoon boat they were riding in.

A few weeks later, community members have come together to host a benefit for the family of Melissa Chambers Britt.

John Keever has organized the benefit along with some friend. The benefit will involve a game that will help everyone let loose a little bit: Cornhole.

The cornhole tournament starts at 7:30 p.m. at FlipFlops Beach Bar in Greensboro on Friday.

The Jared Payne Band starts at 8 p.m.

There will also be a 50-50 drawing, and a raffle with great prizes at the event.

The event is open to the public. You're asked to make a $10 donation to help the family.
