High Point, NC - All year, WFMY News 2 and Guilford County Schools have encouraged students to Read 2 Succeed.

Now, at the end of the year, schools are counting up their books and some students even received a magical reward.

"I believe that reading is like magic," said magician Steve Somers

The children were rewarded with Somers visit because they reached their reading goal.

"Our children have read over 30,000 books as of December and they continue to read each month in order to reach those reading goals," said Shadybrook kindergarten teacher, Robin Bristow.

"If you read, you can do anything," said student Charles Payne.  "My teacher always encourages me to not only do but, but to do great," he said.
