If you are like me and feel sleep deprived, you probably try to "catch up" on sleep during the weekend. However, The Wall Street Journal asked researchers from the American Academy of Sleep to see if it really works.
They said the best thing you can do is take a 25 minute nap every day at the same time. It calms your body down and you feel more rested. If you can't do that, "sleep binging," works in the short-term. If you deprive yourself of sleep for a few days, you can make it up by sleeping for an extended period of time later. You can also "bank" your sleep. If you have a big event coming up, you can sleep 10 hours a day for several days and you won't feel sleepy during the event.
