Greensboro, NC --Consider taking mom on a little getaway for Mother's Day. You can explore great North Carolina cities without traveling too far.

Mark Vanek, a travel correspondent for the Charlotte Observer, stopped by the Good Morning Show to talk about the places to visit from the beach to the mountains.

He recommends visits to Asheville, Wilmington & Wrightsville Beach, Raleigh, and Shelton Vineyards in Dobson.

In Asheville, he says the 1899 Wright Inn is a nice place to stay. He also recommends a restaurant called the Junction and also the French Broad Chocolate Factory.

If you travel to Raleigh, Vanek recommends checking out the NC Museum of Art, which has a nice restaurant and park. There is also the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

If your mother enjoys trips to the coast, you can't miss Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.

Shelton Vineyards in Dobson also comes highly recommended from Vanek as a gorgeous place to visit. Enjoy wine tastings, tours and their restaurant, The Harvest Grill.
