Cape Canaveral, Florida -- The automatic spending cuts are basically a reality at this point, barring a last minute miracle according to Congressional leaders who have already gone home for the weekend.
One area that has not gotten a lot of attention is space exploration and how the spending cuts will impact NASA.
According to NASA-TV, "a budget sequester would significantly set back the ambitious space exploration plan the president and Congress have asked NASA to carry out, further delaying the restart of human space launches from U.S. soil, push back our next generation space vehicles, hold up development of new space technologies, and jeopardize our space-based, Earth observing capabilities."
Lori Garver, Deputy Administrator for NASA talked with Good Morning Show host Meghan Packer about the impact on future exploration, Mars missions and possible furloughs for workers. Watch the attached video for the complete interview.
