This is my non-scientific review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It is a direct competitor to the iPad.

Speed:

The difference in speed between the two wasn't enough to deter me from buying these tablets, but for the tablet "super user," it might be an issue.

Picture Quality:

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 camera is a 3.5 megapixel camera as opposed to the iPad's 5 megapixel. I think the quality is just as sharp in the Galaxy.

Price:

  • iPad with 32 GB and cellular connectivity: $529 (the retina display is $729)
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: $500
  • iPad Mini 16 GB with cellular connectivity: $459
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: $350

Overall, I think for someone who isn't a "techie" this might be a good deal because it is a little bit cheaper than an iPad when you compare apples to apples.  But if you wear a tablet out on a daily basis, you may need to stick with the original. The same holds true for the iPad mini competitor the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7.
