Greensboro, NC - Computers, tablets and smart phones make everyday life easier and more enjoyable, but they can also be a real pain when they aren't working correctly.

On Saturday, the Staples in Clemmons is offering free PC tune ups, and Allen Funk from the Staples Store in Clemmons offered three tips that tech experts may not tell you.

1) Adding Memory Not Always Necessary For Speeding Up Computer

Funk said a primary cause of slow computers can be programs that are already running on your computer, some of which don't need to run all the time.

2) Smart Phones and Tablets Need Antivirus Software Too

Hackers, according to Funk, like to design viruses that impact the largest number of people, and as more and more people use smartphones and tablets, these are now a target of hackers.

Funk advises using the same antivirus programs for smart phones and tablets as you would for a computer.

3) Yearly Maintenance Is Recommended

Computers need yearly maintenance, and rather than fixing computers when there is a problem, these problems can be alleviated with routine maintenance.

Staples and other stores offer programs of varying prices.

On Saturday, Feb. 16th, the Staples in Clemmons will offer free PC tune up services from 9:00am - 3:00pm.

The store is located at 2509A Lewisville-Clemmons Road.
