Greensboro, NC - A local company finally figured it out. The key to sticking to a healthy diet is all in the taste!
Mark Gillis, the CEO of Good Health Natural Foods joined Tracey McCain in the News 2 Kitchen to talk about the Greensboro-based company's line of health food snack options.
Here's the good news. With the Good Health Natural food line, you don't have to eat rice cakes that taste like Styrofoam.
"Our products are different than most you would see on grocery shelves," said Gillis." As a company, we believe that everyone should have access to good, nutritious food that's affordable."
Monday morning, Gillis introduced the company's heart-healthy Avocado Oil Potato Chips. They are a source of plant sterols which contain beta sitosterol which reduces the absorption of 'bad' cholesterol and have only 7 grams of fat per serving.
The Half-naked Popcorn is high in antioxidants and has three grams of fat, four grams of protein and four grams of fiber per serving.
The Veggie Stix compare favorably with other snacks on the market, but Gillis says they're better for you. "Most snack foods lose whatever nutrients they had during processing. Good Health Natural Foods puts the nutrients back in," he said. The Veggie Stix features a concentrate made up of a mix of spinach, broccoli, carrots, beets, shiitake mushrooms and tomatoes. This gives you up to 25 percent of your recommended daily allowance of key vitamins and minerals.
Good Health Natural Foods is based in Greensboro, so their products are easy to find. You can get them at Harris-Teeter, Whole Foods, Earth Fare and The Fresh Market.
