Greensboro, NC - It is impossible to avoid the holidays, from shopping to parties to Christmas vacation, but for elderly people, the holidays can be one of the hardest times of the year.

Twenty percent of seniors have some form of depression, and the holidays can make the feelings of depression worse through memories of happier holidays with family and friends.

Emeritus Senior Living in Greensboro has developed a program to help prevent this called the Home Visit Program.

The Home Visit Program is an initiative by senior care professionals at Emeritus at Greensboro that is designed to check on the well being of older people throughout the region.

The program sends professionals from Emeritus to visit seniors, and the professionals can help with a wide range of issues, from looking for early signs of Alzheimer's to simply offering a warm meal.

The public is encouraged to call Emeritus directly at 336-288-8688 to request a visit to a local senior.
