LOS ANGELES -- Think the stars are resting up for Sunday's big Emmys show? Hardly.
We spotted TV favorites (some bearded) at parties and events all over Los Angeles this weekend, including the Audi-sponsored BAFTA Los Angeles TV Tea and the HBO Luxury Lounge.
On Saturday, Kerry Washington swung into the BAFTA tea, held at the SLS Hotel, early, where she was joined by Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville and Julian Fellowes, plus Game of Thrones' Kit Harrington. Late arrivals included Kevin Spacey and Michael Douglas (who arrived alone).
As Champagne and tea were swilled we ran into Girls star Allison Williams, who just finished shooting the new season. How did Girls handle Christopher Abbott's departure right before filming? (The actor played Williams' boyfriend on the show.) "It required some quick thinking on the part of the writers, but I think what they came up with is really great," she said. Unfortunately, now "Marnie is in a bad place. This is life!" said Williams. "I don't know anyone that doesn't go through these things. It's very, very real. Marnie's just trying to figure out who she is and what she wants."
Meanwhile, over at the HBO Luxury Lounge at the Four Seasons, stars including Jane Lynch, Chris Noth, Evan Handler and Carrie Ann Inaba were treated to loads of swag, from Motorola phones to Pandora jewelry. The gifting suite included a Marc Jacobs Beauty bar, sponsored by Sephora, where Neil Patrick Harris grabbed a stage-friendly clear coat of polish, and Christine Baranski stopped by for a neutral mani.
