London, England -- Hundreds of bands have performed "Wild Thing" over the years, but it was Reg Presley's singing who took the song to No. 1 for the Troggs. Chip Taylor wrote the song.

He's Jon Voight's brother. Voight was the first one to hear it. He told AP Radio in 2007 that he "fell on the floor" laughing, telling his brother "it's a hit!" Presley formed the Troggs while he was still working as a bricklayer. He quit his day job when the band took off with such hits as "Love Is All Around" and "With a Girl Like You."

Presley continued to perform until he was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. He recently suffered a series of strokes and has now died. He was 71.
