GREENSBORO, N.C.-- If you've ever watched WFMY News 2's Weather you've seen and heard the energy and excitement when Ed Matthews does weather.

WFMY News 2's Meteorologists gets dozens of requests for speaking engagements especially for schools. Wednesday, Ed visited a class at Northeast Guilford High School.

And, here's his take on that school visit.

Ed Matthews: I always have so much fun teaching school students about weather and the Science of Meteorology.

So, when I was asked to visit Beverly William's class at at Northeast High School, I said: "Sure I'll Be there".

I begin my program talking about how the National Weather Service sends weather balloon's high into the atmosphere to collect weather data. This data help me understand what's going on in the sky and how our weather is going to change.

We also talked about how important my job is during severe weather events. I must broadcast accurate information about approaching storms that may help saves lives.

We concluded the program with a question and answer session. There were lots of great question form the students. My favorite one was "Is it going to rain on Thanksgiving?" My reply, " I sure hope not!"
