Burlington, NC-- Reading, Writing and Heart Rates are the new combinations at one are school.
Tuesday, Alamance Regional LifeStyle Center donated heart rate monitors to students at seven Middle Schools in Alamance County.
Staff from Alamance Regional made the announcement at Turrentine Middle in Burlington. They also let students get a lesson in how to use the monitors and its benefits of increasing heart rate during physical activities.
Physical education teachers from each middle school were provided an aluminum case of 30 heart rate monitors along with pedometers for their classes.
"The addition of heart rate monitors and pedometers in class will be very beneficial in motivating students to really put effort behind their exercise," says Kevin Wellman, physical education and health teacher at Turrentine Middle School. "The kids are very excited about using the new equipment and tracking their progress through physical activity."
