Winston-Salem, NC -- Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools students could be going back to school weeks earlier in a few years.

Tuesday, school board members talked about the 2013 - 2014 school calendar. So not next year, but the year after that.
They're considering two options. Under the traditional calendar, school would start August 26th and end June 9th.

They're also looking at a unified calendar, which they used in the 2004-2005 school year. Under this plan, students would go back to school August fifth and end May 28th. Students would get more time for fall, winter, and spring breaks.

If the board selects the unified calendar, they still have to get a waiver from the state to make it official. They didn't make a final decision yet. They'll talk about the calendar proposal again at their June 12 meeting.

You can add your input on the proposed changes by filling out a survey by clicking here.
