Greenbsboro, NC -- A lot of graduates across the Piedmont Triad have some quirky and funny graduation stories.
On Monday, WFMY News 2 shed light through the eyes of a Greensboro teenager who never gave up.
Smith High School senior, Don Sutton, said he witnesses domestic violence in his home.
"The breaking point was on February 12th, when my mother's boyfriend tried to set their house on fire with him inside.
The next day Sutton says he moved into The Joseph House homeless shelter.
He then walked 10 miles to school. He was determined to graduate with his class.
"All I can do right now is work hard and eventually one day, everything that I wanted, everything that I said would come true, will come true," said Sutton.
Don Sutton graduates from Smith High School on June 9th.
He has already been accepted to the Art Institute in Charlotte.
