High Point, NC -- High Point police are investigating a robbery of an armored truck that was making a delivery to the Suntrust Bank on Eastchester Drive.

Captain Mike Kirk with the High Point Police Department says the call came in at 3:45 Thursday afternoon.

Kirk said when the two guards were in the back gathering money bags, two men walked up, pulled guns and took a bag of money. The guards got into an altercation with men and shots were fired by the Brinks' guards, he said.

The suspects drove off in a van and smashed through a fence in the bank's back parking lot. The fence backs up to Countryside Road. Witnesses told police, they saw the men get out of the van and into a truck that was driven by a female. They said another man was also in the truck.

None of the guards were injured in the exchange of gunshots, Kirk said, but he wasn't sure if any of the suspects were wounded.

Kirk said they are looking for three males and one female who might be involved with the crime. They were able to recover a shotgun at the scene and they've seized the van, Kirk said.

Detectives said the crime was well organized.
