Raleigh, NC -- Gov. Beverly Perdue and Gov.-elect Pat McCrory are traveling together to North Carolina military bases in a meet-and-greet of sorts with base commanders and community leaders.

McCrory and Perdue were scheduled to fly to five installations Friday, starting in the morning at Fort Bragg. Then they'll visit Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Marine Corps Air Station New River, Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.

The joint visit was billed in part as a sign of unity between the incoming and outgoing governors in their support for North Carolina's military presence. Perdue has a long relationship with local military boosters she's known from her days as lieutenant governor. She led the state's efforts to protect installations from a round of base closings.
