Greensboro, NC--Maybe a nice gift for Mom would be rain gear. A moisture loaded and slow moving system could bring a widespread rain event over the next few days.

A cold front and area of low pressure will slowly move across the are through late Tuesday. This will keep a good chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the forecast at least through Tuesday evening.

Although rainfall amounts will become clearer as the system gets closer, a general 1" to 2" rainfall event is possible. This has caused the National Weather Service to issued a Flash Flood Watch for Henry, Patrick, Carroll, and Grayson counties in Virginia and Alleghany, Wilkes, Yadkin, Surry, and Stokes in North Carolina. The watch means that flash flooding may occur. It is to early to tell if any warnings will be issued.

Mother's Day will be mainly dry with only a slight chance of a Sunday afternoon sprinkle or shower. Then main rain moves into the area tonight and Monday.
