Anderson County, SC-- Investigators in Anderson County have charged a mother with neglect after her infant's diaper was found with maggots inside.
Officers said the child also tested positive for exposure to marijuana.
The Honea Path Police investigation started when they said the child was taken to the AnMed emergency room with an illness.
Nurses told officer when the baby's diaper was removed, several maggots were found inside.
Detectives charged 20-year-old Michelle Butler with Unlawful Neglect of a Child.
Investigators told WSPA after visiting Butler's home they found it in bad condition.
WSPA is reporting that Butler was released Monday on a $10,000 bond.
