Greensboro, NC -- The people who greet you with a wave and a smile every time you walk inside Wal-mart are moving.
Wal-mart has announced that it is reassigning greeters to assist in other areas of the store.
Some employees are uneasy about their new duties.
They have complained to Wal-mart.
Many greeters are retired and/or senior citizens and say they have been told to lift heavy items, which is something they are not physically able to do.
"Employees will not have to lift heavy items," said Wal-mart Spokeswoman Ashley Hardie.
According to Hardie, the new tasks allow greeters to perform less physical work to allow them to focus on giving better customer service.
Wal-mart eliminated night-shift greeters last September.
Since then, day-shift greeters have been worried that the store may eliminate their positions too.
Hardie told WFMY News 2 that's not true. "The day time greeters are here to stay," assured Hardie.
