Davidson County --  For the past 24 years, Jill Hunt has been coaching Special Olympic teams in Davidson County.  Her son has special needs and she wants to give him and others in the community a chance to participate in sports just like other kids.  You can check out her story in the video link.

Mary Ann Brown, Davidson County Local Coordinator for Special Olympics, says that many volunteer the first time because they're are asked to.  They keep doing it because they love it.

Their bowling tournament is coming up in December.  If you would like to volunteer for the event, send an e-mail to this address

They also need coaches.  Basketball and cheerleading begins in December.  Coaches are needed for both.  Coaches are also needed for aquatics, gymnastics, and power lifting beginning in January.  If you have an interest in any of those sports, according to those who already volunteer, there are few places you will be more appreciated than on a Special Olympics team.
