Update: Police Looking For Suspect In Eden Shooting

Eden, NC -- Deputies found an Eden man with multiple gunshot wounds near his truck on the side of NC 87 Thursday morning. 

Donald Wayne Chambers, 32, told Rockingham County deputies that his truck broke down on 87 near Meeks Road.  He said he was approached by a man and woman both in vehicles.  Chambers said the man shot him four times.

Friday afternoon, deputies released a picture of Rontae Hayes, who they said is the suspect in Chambers' shooting. Hayes faces charges of: Felonious Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.

Officers said he may be in the High Point area.

Chambers told investigators that he was not familiar with the occupants of either vehicle and does not know why the man shot him.

Chambers was taken by helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for treatment.  Hospital personnel said the he is currently stable.
