Greensboro, NC-- The Guilford County School District told News 2 that they just realized the school wasn't going to be ready in time for the first day of school. But a construction worker said it was a long time coming.
The school wouldn't elaborate on the specifics on the construction delay.
News 2's Liz Crawford got one side of the story from Nicholas Worthington, who worked on the site for the electrical subcontractor.
"Seeing people leave, come and go from the electrical contractor. Just the lack of material and you know being able to get the job done. They were definitely going to have to extend the deadline," said Worthington.
Worthington said contractors were on the job one day, and gone the next. There weren't enough materials. There were disputes between the general contractor and subcontractors. Worthington even said that some workers, including him weren't getting paid.
