GREENSBORO, N.C. --  Two animal lovers hope you will buy Christmas presents from them.  They create a variety of handmade and personalized gifts.  A portion of each sale goes to shelters or rescue organizations of the buyer's choice.

"It makes us feel good to know we're helping animals and rescue organizations throughout the United States," explains Sylvia Mayon.

Mayon and Seresa Cecil co-founded Gifts 2 Help Rescues in 2011.  They make a variety of items including handmade bracelets, picture frames and greeting cards.

One of the most popular items is the personalized pendant which can be worn as a necklace or placed on a keychain.

"When somebody has lost a pet, we create memorial pendants for them so not only is a rescue or shelter they support getting a large donation but they also have something to wear that honors the pet they lost," said Cecil.

Business has grown in the past two years.  The company has shipped to Australia, Germany, Canada and all over the U.S.  During that time, Mayon and Cecil have raised about $8,000 to benefit charitable organizations.

"This is what drives us.  This is our passion.  It's just awesome," exclaimed Cecil.

Their products are sold primarily online and at various events across the Triad.  The two will be selling their gifts at the Festival of Lights on Dec. 6 from 6pm-9pm.  They'll be set up on the 300 block of S. Elm Street in downtown Greensboro.  They'll also be selling their products at Cafe Pasta in Greensboro on Dec.14 from 11:30am-2pm.  The event benefits the Humane Society of the Piedmont.
