Clara Marie's Red Velvet Cake Recipe
2 ½ cups all purpose flour 1 cup buttermilk
1½ cups sugar 1 ounce red food coloring
1 cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
In a large bowl, mix together sugar, oil and eggs (one at a time). In a liquid measuring cup, add buttermilk, food coloring and vinegar. In a bowl sift flour, cocoa powder and soda. Add flour mixture and buttermilk mixtures alternatively to sugar mix ending with flour. Then add vanilla to the batter.
Bake for 27-30 minutes at 350 in two nine inch pans. Frost with your favorite cream cheese frosting!
