A love of chicken is what landed Buzz in foster care. Or should we say, "chickens." Buzz's former owner was also the proud owner of a flock of chickens, who Buzz saw as either a possible threat or a possible snack. What can we say; Buzz really loves chicken dinners... therefore, a home free of live chickens and other small critters is a must for this otherwise loveable boy.
Buzz is a soft wire hair, and as you can see he is a very handsome fellow. He's four years old and weighs about 18 pounds, so is considered a large tweenie. His color is red on his undercoat with cream-colored soft hair on his top coat. His eyes are ice blue and he will just stare at you with all the love he has to give.
Buzz is housetrained, crate trained, and good on a leash. He actually will go into a crate when commanded to "crate" or "let's go to bed." He is a very smart dachshund! Buzz does fine with the foster home's grandchildren, who have been taught how to treat their Nana's foster dogs. Respectful children ages 7 and above are ok.
This curious guy really enjoys hunting outside in the fenced-in yard. Buzz is also a great watchdog, and is sometimes the only dog to alert his foster mom and dad to potential intruders while the other wieners are snoozing away. Buzz is not considered a lap dog, but sometimes he sits in the recliner with his foster mom. He usually prefers to dream his chicken-chasing dreams on the couch.
We think Buzz would do best in a home as an only dog, or in a home with a larger alpha female. In his foster home, he has come into contact with the almighty Bunnydog, who is an alpha female and at 14 years of age, still rules the roost. After several attempts to bully her, he backed down and now respects her authority. Buzz also chases the foster home outside kitties and is not too good at making friends. Buzz does not get along with all dogs and definitely not any small animals.
Buzz is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. He gets regular flea treatments and has been dewormed. He has no known health issues.
