Warm up at the premier Gate City Chili Cook Off on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at NewBridge Bank Park.

Participating restaurants will offer samples of their signature chili recipes, and you get to vote on your favorite. All proceeds will benefit Greensboro Urban Ministry, to help those in the community that need your help as the temperatures start to turn colder.

Greensboro Urban Ministry needs your support now more than ever.

The poor, hungry, and homeless of our city have had a very challenging and difficult year. Many of the unemployed lost their benefits and turned to Urban Ministry for help with rent and utility bills. More families needed both food and medical assistance due to changes in government programs and computer issues with existing programs.

Tickets to the Gate City Chili Cook Off are $10, and are available at all participating restaurants, businesses and at the Grasshoppers Majestic yard.

Participating restaurants include Natty Greene's, Old Town Draught House, Porterhouse Bar & Grill, Lindley Park Filling Station, Iron Hen Café, Grey's Tavern, Stumble Stilskins, Fisher's Grille, 1618 Wine Lounge, Sticks & Stones, Crafted and Southern Lights Bistro.

Sponsors of the premier Gate City Chili Cook Off are Neese's Sausage, Natty Greene's Brewing Company, the Greensboro Grasshoppers, Summerfield Farms, Grand Rental Station, Rock 92, News & Record and WFMY News 2.
