Greensboro, NC -- Duke Energy will begin cleaning up trees and vegetation to protect transmission lines this week.
Crews will start the cleanup on Merritt Drive and Wendover Avenue before heading south toward Spring Garden Street, and then toward High Point Road.
The transmission lines can reach voltages of up to 500,000 volts. The lines come from several power plants and serve thousands of Duke Energy customers.
Duke Energy has already notified customers who have trees or vegetation in the transmission lines rights-of-way that need to be cleaned up. Customers were also given to the chance to discuss specific plans for their homes.
The work should take a total of two weeks, according to the City of Greensboro.
